Why do you love Hope?
Ryan loves working in an environment that combines a rich intellectual and research culture, incredible athletic spirit and vibrant creative arts. Ryan also enjoys Hope’s proximity to downtown Holland and Lake Michigan, the rich school traditions and being part of a community that educates with such purpose.
Outside the college
Ryan has been married to Heidi for over 15 years, and they have four wonderful young children — James, Willem, Edie and Wesley. Ryan loves going with the family on outdoor adventures throughout the lakeshore, and you can often find them hiking the sand dunes, camping, playing at Lake Michigan and cross-country skiing in the winter. The family also loves playing games, and would love to host you for a game of Apples to Apples, Ticket to Ride, Clue or something else that you want to bring.
Ryan also loves all things soccer. He was a collegiate All-Region player and an Academic All-American. He still loves the game and has coached on and off since his playing days.
