Weddings

Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumni continue to come back to say "I do" in the place where their story began.

  • A couple stands at the altar during their wedding ceremony in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Dimnent Memorial Chapel. They are surrounded by their bridal party, with bridesmaids in white dresses on the left and groomsmen in light-colored suits on the right. The chapel features a large, ornate stained glass window in the background, and the pews are filled with guests.
  • A bride and groom walk hand in hand outside Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Dimnent Memorial Chapel, smiling as guests shower them with colorful flower petals. The bride is in a white gown, and the groom is in a light gray suit, holding a bouquet. Guests are gathered on either side of the walkway, celebrating the newlyweds.
  • An elegantly decorated altar in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Dimnent Memorial Chapel, featuring two tall floral arrangements with greenery and white and red flowers on either side. A small table in the center holds candles and floral accents, set against the backdrop of wooden pews and vibrant stained-glass windows.
  • A young girl dressed as a flower girl in a white fluffy dress walks down the aisle of Dimnent Memorial Chapel at Hope College, smiling and carrying a small bouquet. The pews are decorated with white ribbons and flowers, and guests are seated on both sides watching and taking photos. The chapel's wooden interior and checkered floor tiles are visible.
  • A bride holding a bouquet of flowers and a man in a suit stand outside the stone exterior of Dimnent Memorial Chapel at Hope College. Both are wiping away tears, capturing an emotional moment.
  • A bride and groom stand on the staircase of Dimnent Memorial Chapel at Hope College, backlit by the arched windows. The bride is dressed in a flowing wedding gown, and the groom is in a suit.
  • A bride in a white wedding dress and veil applies lipstick while looking in a mirror, flanked by two bridesmaids in lace dresses. The reflection shows the bride and a bridesmaid smiling.
  • A bride and groom share a kiss at the altar in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Dimnent Memorial Chapel, surrounded by their bridal party. The backdrop features vibrant stained glass windows, and the couple is flanked by bridesmaids in green dresses holding bouquets and groomsmen in dark suits. The ceremony is attended by guests seated in the foreground.

Weddings in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Dimnent Memorial Chapel are reserved for Â鶹ÊÓƵ faculty and staff and their immediate family members, and alums during the summer season from mid-May through mid-August. They're coordinated by the Events and Conferences Office, and we ask that you book the chapel one year in advance. As much as we admire wedding planners, we like to consider ourselves more  like "building facilitators," where you take care of planning all the important details and we just make sure our facilities are ready for your big day.

It's a pretty great place to say your vows, and don't just take our word for it — in 2018,  selected Â鶹ÊÓƵ as a "Top Pick Venue to Get Hitched In The Midwest.†

WEDDING DAY TIPS

We've been doing this for quite a few years, so we've picked up some pieces of advice the we think would be helpful on your big day:

  • First off, relax and enjoy your day.
  • The Chapel is not air conditioned and it can get pretty hot. Providing fans or water bottles for guests are a nice touch.
  • Fresh flower petals are not allowed down the aisle, so make sure to use fake ones for your flower girl to toss.
  • Make sure to have someone record your ceremony if that's something you'd like. Hope does not provide any recording services.
  • Consider exploring the chapel prior to the wedding to choose picture locations with your photographer.
  • Timing is key. Leave ample time on either end for set-up, clean up and pictures, and remember that guests usually start arriving 30 minutes prior to the wedding.
