Hope College HASP
HASP is a peer led institute for learning in retirement.
HASP is a voluntary, continuing education program at Hope College and a member of the (formerly Elderhostel). The staff of HASP are part of the Alumni and Family Engagement team. Through a variety of classes, lectures, study groups, monthly meetings, and cultural and service events, members pursue avenues of study and engage in the exchange of ideas.
Lifelong learning and service opportunities for retirees have been a major emphasis throughout the history of the Hope Academy of Senior Professionals, which was founded in 1988.
Monthly Meetings
General meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month (unless otherwise noted) at 9 a.m. with the program taking place from 9:30–10:30 a.m. The HASP president opens the meeting with general announcements and business, followed by a 45-minute program on a current issue or area of interest.

Courses
Classes are available to members across three semesters: fall, winter/spring and summer. Courses are offered in fine arts, social sciences, humanities, and science, medicine and technology. Courses vary from single sessions to up to eight weeks, are 90-minutes in length and take place Monday through Friday, morning and afternoon.

Special Events
HASP offers special social, cultural, educational and recreational events each month, with the objective to meet and fellowship among members.
Service Opportunities
HASP retired professionals share their skills and knowledge with the rest of the community with particular emphasis on helping the students and faculty of Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Announcements regarding places and options to serve are made available through our monthly bulletin and email.

Special Interest Groups
Small Interest Groups (SIGs) are member-initiated and group-directed. In a large organization such as HASP, they provide opportunities for our members to meet each other to learn, explore and experience activities of a common interest. Currently we have three active groups: Gardening, Hiking, and Writing.
