Faculty Discussion Series
Conversations about our continuing formation as teachers in Christ-centered higher education.
As professors at a Christian college, we do many things common to those who teach at all colleges and universities:
- Advise students
- Place course objectives in the context of curricular and institutional goals
- Design assignments
- Assess our students' work
But what might those practical aspects of teaching look like from a Christ-centered perspective? How might we not only conceive of our vocation in the context of the historic Christian faith but also carry it out in such a way that our students will know that we are Christ's disciples? Although graduate school did not train us to answer these questions, we are part of a community devoted to our continuing formation in Christ-centered higher education.
We look forward to sharing conversations among colleagues about teaching and learning in the context of Christ-centered higher education.

Monthly throughout most of the academic year, faculty join together to discuss pre-selected topics related to teaching in a Christian higher education setting. We'll cover the cost of your Phelps Dining Hall lunch and discuss the chosen topic in Maas Conference Room.
The Center for Ministry Studies co-sponsors this initiative alongside the Senior Seminar Program with assistance from the Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship.
