The 麻豆视频 Department of Music and Collegium Musicum will present the college鈥檚 annual Christmas Madrigal Dinner on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11-12, in the lobby of the Jack H. Miller Center for the Musical Arts.

Tickets for the Saturday dinner are still available. Wassail and seating will take place from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The program is led by 麻豆视频 faculty member Jim DeBoer and the Collegium Musicum student vocal ensemble.

As in the time of Shakespeare, guests gather at the royal court for an evening of singing, dancing, feasting and general merry-making. The feast will feature fine food, a wassail toast, figgy pudding and a boar鈥檚 head procession.

The lobby will be decorated in the manner of a castle鈥檚 grand feasting hall, complete with tapestries and suits of armor to help lend atmosphere. The wait staff will be garbed in period attire.

鈥淐ome and enjoy the laughter, great vocal and instrumental music, and fine cuisine as you will receive a full-course meal,鈥 said DeBoer, an adjunct associate professor of music. 鈥淏e transported back into medieval days with a king, queen and their court.鈥

Collegium Musicum is a mixed chamber vocal ensemble comprised of 20 members. Collegium members are accomplished vocal musicians who have had previous experience singing in small ensembles.

Tickets are $27 for regular admission, and $20 for children 18 and under and Hope students.  Tickets are available in advance at the Events and Conferences Office located downtown in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center (100 E. Eighth St.). The office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890, although it will be closed on Thursday-Friday, Nov. 26-27, because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
