Hope Summer Repertory Theatre invites students with a passion for theatre to audition for the 2020 season’s production of “Disney’s Freaky Friday - The Musical” through HSRT’s Emerging Artist Initiative.
Launched last summer, the Emerging Artist Initiative is an audition-based, tuition-based company for young people. The company is geared toward high school students (grades 8 - 12) who want to perform as a part of the company and gain experience in a professional theatre setting. The initiative aims to provide students with the opportunity to hone their skills, work with members of a professional theatre company and perform as a part of the HSRT 2020 season.
The auditions for HSRT's production of “Freaky Friday - The Musical” will take place on Friday, Dec. 13, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The auditions will be held in the John and Dede Howard Recital Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts. No sign-up is required.
Students should come prepared with a monologue (preferably memorized), 32 bars of a song (an accompanist will be provided), a headshot (color photo) and a resume. Tuition, if cast, is $500 and includes several workshops and additional performance opportunities. Scholarships are available for those who may need assistance with tuition. There is no cost to audition.
“Freaky Friday - The Musical” tells the story of an uber-organized mother and her spontaneous teenage daughter. When the two magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right. Masquerading as each other, they must work together to solve the mystery of how to break the spell. By spending a day in each other’s shoes, they come to appreciate one another in a way they never could have imagined.
Established at Hope College in 1972, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre is West Michigan’s premier professional theatre company and produces plays and educational programs of the highest professional standards that address the needs of and enhance the quality of life for, 鶹Ƶ and the community.
